Life Saving Curriculum

How would your life have been different if you had learned lgbtq history in school?

This saves lives.

History UnErased is an education non-profit bringing life-affirming, life-changing, and life-saving LGBTQ US history into the mainstream curriculum in K-12 schools across the nation. Their mission is important to me and I wanted to share this with you.

Bayard Rustin The proof that one truly believes is in action

Bayard Rustin LGBTQ history unerased

Bayard Rustin was Dr. King's lead strategist and had a hand in nearly every major civil rights event students learn in school. And it was Bayard Rustin who convinced Dr. King to employ the tactics of Gandhi with nonviolence and peaceful protests. (Did you learn about Bayard Rustin in school?)

In 2013, Bayard Rustin was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. At the ceremony, President Obama said Rustin had been denied his rightful place in history because he lived openly as a gay man. The medal was then given to Rustin's partner, Walter Naegle.

In this short video, you will meet Walter and hear his message to you about why learning LGBTQ history is important for all students.
