Give Voice to History
in partnership with the Making Gay History podcast
In the late 1980s, Eric Marcus, New York Times best-selling author, recorded interviews with LGBTQ activists and champions from as far back as the 1930s. These interviews informed Eric’s authorship of Making History: The Struggle for Gay and Lesbian Equal Rights, 1945 – 1990 (1992) and Making Gay History: The Half-Century Fight for Lesbian and Gay Equal Rights (2002).
In 2016, Eric teamed up with acclaimed audio producer Sara Burningham to bring these voices of championship to life with the Making Gay History podcast series.
Today, Making Gay History is working with HUE to expand the American civil rights story for K-12 classrooms and empower all students. These educationally relevant extractions of Eric’s archive anchor HUE’s K-12+ LGBTQ Academic Inquiry Kits.
